Watermelon Day Countdown - 20 Days to Go

The big day is coming up. I hope you're planning to come out for Watermelon Day. Kids, be sure to bring swimming trunks for the water slide!

Enjoy the following watermelon tip in preparation for Watermelon Day:

De-seeding a watermelon:

If you would like to de-seed a watermelon, here's a nice and easy way to do it. This is perfect to dice up into chunks for a snack, use in salsa, mix into drinks or anything else you would use watermelon for.

Be sure to wash your watermelon and knives before cutting into it.

Cut watermelon in half, then in quarters

Cut through the flesh of the melon along the seed line with a pairing knife. Now, lift off the piece you just cut out.

Using a fork, scrape the seeds from the piece you just removed and from the remaining flesh on the rind.

Don't forget, to schedule summer watermelon portraits for your kids, give us a call at 704.888.2881.

Have a good one!

Brittney Summers

We had the opportunity today to photograph Brittney Summers for her upcoming pageant competition for Little Miss North Carolina. It would be awesome for a local gal to take home the crown, so let her know you're pulling for her when you see her around town. Here's just a preview. We'll post more later.

Watermelon Day Countdown: 28 Days

In preparation for Watermelon Day here at Little Photography, I've decided to pass on some watermelon tips and trivia.

How to Choose the Perfect Watermelon:

1) Look for a firm, symmetrical melon that is free of bruises, cuts, and dents.

2) It should seem heavy for its size.

3) Look for one with a creamy yellow spot on the bottom where it sat on the ground and ripened in the sun.

Or, you could just let us do the watermelon selecting for you by coming out and getting a summer watermelon portrait for your kids. Free watermelon with each session.

See you soon.

Jennifer and Chris

Congratulations Jennifer and Chris! They're getting married July 7 (that's 07/07/07).

Jennifer is clearly in control of the wedding plans. She managed to corral the entire entourage into the studio this morning to knock out the tuxedo measurements all at once.

Chandler is the ring bearer. He says he might wear the camo hat during the ceremony. (That's his buddy Jonah in the background)

Best of luck to you guys! See you soon.
